IRF PPP Working Group meets in Geneva
Under the chairmanship of Michel Démarre, of the French National Federation of Public Works (FNTP), the IRF Working Group on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) met recently in Geneva to review progress and latest developments. The main current task of the Working Group is to publish a booklet on PPPs for Urban Road Networks. This booklet will essentially be based on a series of case studies, including assessments with respect to each and overall findings. Members of the Working Group carefully reviewed each item on the proposed outline of the publication. Chapters include Specificity of Road PPPs in the Urban Context, the Historical Context of Urban Road PPPs, Benefits Captured Through a PPP Approach and Recommendations on Issues Encountered in Case Studies.
In order to further advance its work on the publication, the PPP Working Group will convene again during the forthcoming IRF World Meeting, which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 25-28 May, 2010. Some members of the group will also be presenting papers during this IRF World Meeting and took advantage of the Geneva meeting to elaborate on these with their Working Group colleagues.
Other agenda items addressed during the meeting notably included the activities of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in the field of PPP and the European PPP Report 2009 produced by the European PPP Expertise Centre.
