Killer roads to turn safe, one by one - Times of India

NEW DELHI: In a move to make Indian roads get rid of the `killer' tag, the states will identify one stretch each that can be developed as a safe road with all features of a `forgiving road'. These stretches will be designed in such a manner that they have enough safety features which lessen the chances of accidents.

Les usagers du rail et des bus doivent payer leur part. Il n'assument que 66% de leurs coûts.

L'Office fédéral de la statistique (OFS) vient de le confirmer une fois de plus: les usagers de la route couvrent mieux leurs coûts que les usagers des transports publics (rail), même en prenant en compte les fameux coûts externes (dommages à l'environnement et accidents de la route).

82 milliards pour les transports

Neuchâtel, 25.05.2009 (OFS) – En 2005, la Suisse a dépensé quelque 82 milliards de francs au total pour les transports, dont 70,5 milliards pour la route et 11,4 milliards pour le rail. Voilà ce qui ressort des derniers résultats du compte des transports 2005 de l’Office fédéral de la statistique.

Global meet on road safety from May 21

A high-level gathering of many of the world’s leading road safety experts will take place in Birmingham, UK, from May 21 to 23, thanks to a collaborative initiative of the International Road Federation and the School of Civil Engineering at the Universityof Birmingham.

Interview of IRF, Rahbaran Monthly Magazine

In a workshop on transportation which was held in Tehran with the presence of the members of ECO, Anthony Pearce the Honorary Director General of International Road Federation (IRF) who attended as a guest in this congress answered the questions of Rahbaran magazine reporter. In this report Mr. Pearce explained about the activities of this Federation in the field of reforming roads and signals and presented the methods for improving the road infrastructure situation globally.

United Nations and International Roads Federation join forces for road safety in UAE

In an effort to reduce accidents on UAE roads, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the International Road Federation (IRF) supported by 3M, held two targeted seminars on conspicuity marking in the UAE with the objective of helping authorities reduce accidents involving heavy vehicles.
