Heading for more Safe and Secure Truck Parking Areas

On 25-26 October 2010 the European Commission and the Belgian presidency will jointly hold a conference in Brussels on ‘Improving European Truck Parking’. This event will be the opportunity to present the various initiatives in Member States and unveil the results of the European pilot project LABEL to provide truckers with reliable information about the security and comfort levels of available parking areas.

Une perte de valeur considérable menace nos routes cantonales

Zurich, le 12 juillet 2010 – Tout ne va pas pour le mieux en ce qui concerne la conservation de la valeur des 18'100 kilomètres de routes cantonales : plus de la moitié des cantons n’investissent pas assez pour assurer l’entretien à long terme et à des coûts optimaux de leurs infrastructures routières. Dix pour cent des routes cantonales, soit quelque 1700 kilomètres, ont même besoin d’une réfection de toute urgence. C’est ce qui ressort d’une étude publiée par Infrastruktur Strasse.

The ERF has a new President

Jacobo Díaz Pineda has been appointed as the new President of the European Union Road Federation (ERF). The election, which took place in Lisbon on 25th May within the framework of the16th IRF World Meeting, also saw the renewal of Mr. Rik Nuyttens (3M) as a Vice-President and the appointment of Mr. Antonio Pinelo (CRP) as a second Vice-President.

16th IRF World Meeting a huge success

The 16th International Road Federation World Meeting, which was held in Lisbon from 25 to 28 May 2010, attracted about 1.500 participants and saw the interventions of numerous stakeholders, as well as a number of eminent keynote speakers. This key road sector event, jointly organised by the European Union Road Federation (ERF), the Centro Rodoviário Português (CRP) and the International Road Federation (IRF), carried the title “Sharing the Road”.

IRF honors Moriyasu Furuki with Dr. Mino Award of Excellence

Brian Harris, chairman of the International Road Federation-Washington (IRF-Washington) and the board of directors of the International Road Educational Foundation have selected Moriyasu Furuki as the 2010 recipient of the Dr. Mino Award of Excellence.

1000 delegates to gather in Lisbon

The landmark international gathering will take place in Lisbon from 25 to 28 May 2010, dedicated to the theme of "Sharing the Road". The overriding goal of the Meeting is to identify the dynamic responses to modern demands for freer and cheaper mobility, making optimum use of new cost and energy efficient materials and technologies. First and foremost, this will call upon us to develop the industry in harmony with growing environmental awareness and the finite resources of our planet.
