Dear [fname], Spring is on our doorstep. For IRF this is a particularly exciting period of the year. The IRF World Meeting, to be held from 25-28 May 2010 in Lisbon, Portugal, is just around the corner. An outstanding technical programme has been finalised, the last remaining exhibition stands have been snapped up and an exhilarating social programme is in place. Please find detailed information about this landmark event here. During the IRF World Meeting, we will also convene the IRF Geneva Annual General Assembly. You are cordially invited to attend this on 25 May, 2010. At the General Assembly we will elect the board members and executive committee for a new mandate period. We encourage you to step forward if you wish to stand for election for either of these bodies and help shape the future of the IRF. In mid-February, IRF held a special brainstorming meeting aimed at exploring future scenarios and strategies to promote the development of IRF in general, and IRF Geneva in particular. The main purpose of this brainstorming session was to enable objective review and appraisal of various new ideas and trends in order to help ensure that IRF continues to evolve dynamically, in line with changing times and the fresh challenges they bring. A small core group, composed of Patrick Lepercq of Michelin France, Jean Beauverd of Colas Switzerland, Kiran Kapila of ICT India, Michael Stanciu of Search Romania and Abdul Awadh of TARA Tanzania, has been nominated to further develop and refine the various ideas that flowed from the discussions. The core group will work throughout the year in order to compile a detailed series of concrete proposals. Please do not hesitate to contribute your thoughts to this important process. We look forward to the pleasure of meeting with all of you at the IRF World Meeting, which will undoubtedly be the most important road industry gathering of the year. Sibylle Rupprecht
